So why would I want to use this you ask!

Because it’s a quick way for you to get some basic information right from your desk.

For example: you wonder how many corporate foundations there are in Indiana –  in less than a minute you’ll know, it’s 60 with nearly $500m in assets, with total giving just over $74m and you can view the data in list, chart or trend view.

Even download it and use it in that report your board wants tonight!

The Foundation Center’s  Foundation Stats  provides comprehensive resources for generating tables and charts on the size, scope, and giving priorities of the U.S. foundation community and even better, it’s available anywhere you have access to the internet.

You can choose whether to create your search in the Foundations or Grants databases.

The Foundations data set includes fiscal information on all active funders in a given fiscal year and the Grants data set includes all grants of $10,000 or more from the Foundation Center 1000 — a sample of 1,000 of the largest U.S. foundations. See the top 50 foundations and top 50 recipients for any year between 2002-2012.

Foundation Stats allows you to filter data by:

  • Fiscal year
  • Foundation type
  • Foundation location

Meet the Funders 2014 | Online Highlights

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the 11th annual Meet the Funders! What a joy to Meet the Funders with you!

We owe the success of the event to our ten foundation representatives, ninety attendees, six volunteers, two interns and our volunteer emcee /panel facilitator, Amber Recker! Thanks to each of you for your efforts to strengthen our community!

Online Highlights and Website Changes

  • Marcia Haaff invited you to view The Lutheran Foundation’s microsite Are You the Body? to access the Needs Assessment and Survey on regional mental and behavioral health needs.
  • The Lutheran Foundation itself has a new website to share with information on the changes to their funding priorities.
  • Jenny King shared that the Zollner Foundation is now online. Wells Fargo Trusts looks forward to moving additional trusts online in the future.
  • And Margaret Sturm shared that English, Bonter, Mitchell Foundation has transformed their online application through PNC Trusts. Foellinger Foundation Limited Asset Improvement Grant Proposals Due May 9

Got assets that need investment? Would repairing them improve your effectiveness? Consider the Limited Asset Improvement opportunity.

Earlier this year, the Foellinger Foundation announced a special Limited Asset Improvement Project funds (LAI) opportunity for Allen County-based 501(c)(3) organizations.

This special grant opportunity is for the improvement or replacement of current assets that improve organizational effectiveness.

Two LAI Project categories of funding are available. Organizations may apply for up to $50,000 if they have completed a capacity-building grant (Inspire, Renew, or Transform) from the Foundation AND implemented its findings during the period January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2013. All other eligible organizations may apply for up to $25,000.

Organizations applying for funds must demonstrate how the project(s) for which funds are sought will make the agency more effective.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on May 9, 2014.
