Position Opening: Communications and Major Events Coordinator – FILLED

Position Summary: The Little River Wetlands Project is a successful nonprofit working to restore wetland habitats and provide educational experiences to connect our community to the areas natural resources. We are seeking a part-time Communications and Major Events Coordinator to manage the communication needs and major events coordination that support key components of our mission.

Job Duties

  • Ability to develop and complete numerous materials including newsletters, brochures, banners, posters, exhibit signs, shirts, merchandise, etc.
  • Create new layouts/templates or use existing layouts for various print materials and electronic formats
  • Assist with writing and responsible for disseminating press releases
  • Update and maintain the LRWP website to stay current and relevant, newsletter editor
  • Social Media and Email marketing
    o Establish weekly content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely campaigns
    o Develop content, promotion, and engagement strategies
    o Promote brand awareness and online reputation
    o Explore ways in which to fundraise via social media
    o Create content, manage, and execute email blasts
  • Major Event coordinator
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Director of Preserves and Programs, Wetland Education Coordinator, Preserves and Programs Assistant, and office staff
  • Supervised by the Executive Director
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications
  • Professional with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Excellent writing, language, and organizational skills are essential
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in a multi-tasking environment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and in an effective and efficient manner
  • Able to work well in a team-environment with feedback from others
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and email marketing applications (Mail Chimp and Constant Contact, etc.
  • Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in social media


  • Range $11 – $12 per hour depending upon experience, no benefits

Type: Part-Time
Hours: Hours average 15-20 per week. Occasional nights and weekends required
