ReStore Donation Assistant 

Performance Summary:

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center selling new and gently-used items to the public at discounted prices. The donation assistant is responsible for assisting ReStore Managers on duty with all day-to-day operations. This team member must have a customer-first mindset, the ability to carry out daily assignments and adapt quickly to change, and a desire to work in a unique retail environment for a good cause. This is an opportunity for a positive, people-oriented individual who wants to apply his/her skills to raise funds to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building homes, communities and hope.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare truck and supplies needed for pickups, keep truck clean and safe and report issues to Donation Manager; assist donation truck drivers on daily route to acquire donated items
  • Assist with retail operation, including operating point-of-sale (POS) system, making sales, processing/stocking merchandise, loading/unloading merchandise, receiving drop-off donations, and assisting donation truck drivers
  • Screen product for usability
  •  Interact positively with all customers, volunteers and donors
  • Provide superior customer service to customers, volunteers and donors
  • Follow all store policies/procedures and schedules/timelines

Competencies:

  • Able to lift up to 50-75 pounds, preform heavy manual tasks, work standing or walking for a full work day, and be capable of performing outside duties under all weather conditions
  • Ability to read maps and follow GPS directions
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Able to supervise/work alongside volunteers with a wide range of skills and abilities
  • Effective communication, basic math and language skills, good organizational skills
  • Operate POS system with accuracy and proficiency
