Position Title: Director of Development

Reports to: CEO

Performance Summary:
This is a high-energy, relationship-based, goal-oriented position requiring extremely strong organizational skills speaking/communication skills and a genuine passion for Habitat’s mission. The Director of Development is a valued member of the leadership team responsible for the strategic development,
management, implementation and evaluation of all fundraising programs supporting Habitat’s mission in the community.

Performance Roles

  • Leadership Role – Work directly with the CEO to develop and implement a strategy for the long term financial support of the affiliate
  • Community Advocate Role – Serve as an advocate to the community at-large for the affiliate’s financial needs
  • Project Manager Role – Oversee the development and implementation of an annual development plan for major corporate gifts and cultivating individual donors
  • Team Role – Function as a member of the Habitat Leadership team with the CEO and champion the donor database for the staff
  • Communication Role – Serve as the primary contact for all individual and corporate donors
    Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, manage and evaluate strategies with CEO for annual support, sponsorships, major gifts, individual giving, corporate investment and planned giving programs
  • Plan and manage all fundraising events and build/support corresponding committees for each
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with key donors, groups and prospects throughout the
    community
  • Champion donor software for the affiliate, and develop and administer policies and procedures to
    track, manage and recognize all persons within the database
  • Manage Faith Engagement and Investor Relations managers efforts to recruit, orientate, engage and retain volunteers from churches, corporations and other organizations
  • Collaborate with CEO and Director of Communications on messaging for all events, investor collateral, gift acknowledgments, mailings, annual report and other campaigns
  • Take on additional related tasks as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area
  • A minimum 3-5 years of fundraising experience
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business applications
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with no serious convictions or at-fault accidents
