A recent post on blueavocado.org discusses a strategy for recruiting the right people you may not know.
By using a Blue Ribbon Nominating Committee, the organization can focus the search not just on who the next board members will be, but what they will do to move the organization forward.
The nominating committee should consist of people whose assets you would want for your board, but who would probably not be able to join because of other commitments. These nominating committee members would then suggest people they know who could help move the organization down its “critical path.”
