Make a Difference Day – 2010

October 23, 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. Held annually the fourth Saturday of October, Make A Difference Day is sponsored by USA WEEKEND and HandsOn Network, a business unit of Points of Light Institute.

HandsOn Network invites you to Get HandsOn for Make A Difference Day. This site will equip you with templates and toolkits to launch your own project or volunteer for an existing project in your area.

Utilize these tools and resources to increase the impact of your Make a Difference Day projects or to start your own project. HandsOn Network wants to share its volunteer management expertise with you so that you can lead others in service!


HandsOn Network asks you to Get HandsOn this Make A Difference Day and lead your co-workers, neighbors, family, friends or community members in service. Download toolkits for project ideas, and utilize web banners and email signature to promote your efforts.

Register your Make A Difference Day project so that others in your area can know about your efforts and sign up to get involved. After Make A Difference Day, you can turn your registration into an entry for a $10,000 award from Newman’s Own!


USA Weekend and HandsOn Network invite you to share your story of service.

Tell how you learned about Make a Difference Day, how you got involved in meeting community needs, and the individuals and communities you impact through your service on Make a Difference Day.
