Framework for Nonprofit Outcomes and Indicators

In partnership, WhatWorks and the Urban Institute completed the initial phase of research to provide the first sector-wide framework for nonprofit program outcomes and indicators for success. The framework assists nonprofits to identify and measure common program outcomes to benchmark and improve. It also assists funders by providing a common language to assess grantee performance.  Current research results.  Online outcomes portal tools.

What this means for nonprofit organizations:

You can get help identifying your outcome measurement strategy. Through the Outcomes Portal, select your program area and then be guided to appropriate outcomes to expect for your persons-served. Based on these choices, make further suggestions for the measurement methods you can use to report progress.
