Get on Board

Welcome to Get on Board!

Our goal is to train, connect, and support emerging leaders and the nonprofits they wish to serve.

Young leaders will also connect with interested nominees of Foellinger Foundation’s Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award to draw on their collective and individual experiences in board governance.

Get on Board is a two year initiative from the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center and Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana. Grant support has been provided by Foellinger Foundation.

Train

For Emerging Leaders: Board Bootcamp
Young Leaders can sign up to attend Board Bootcamp. Each series of three programs are led by expert facilitator Mike Stone from Impact Strategies, Inc.

Sign up for the YLNI newsletter to be among the first alerted.

For Nonprofit Boards: SpringBoard!
SpringBoard! is a is set of information in five subject areas to help your board recruit, retain, and engage a new generation of board members.

Connect

Where Boards and Emerging Leaders meet:

boardnetUSA
Create a (free!) online profile at boardnetUSA, a matchmaking site for potential board members and nonprofits.

Of course, we aren’t suggesting that boards or emerging leaders would pluck a name from the list and marry – you will need to spend time and energy in getting to know each other, but this certainly is a good place to start.

“Get Connected” Events – By invitation only. YLNI’s Get on Board committee will select a range of nonprofits who will be invited to participate. Selection will be based on an organization’s responses to questions like, “What specific opportunities for engagement do you have for an emerging leader who might qualify as a potential board member?”

Nonprofit PSA’s – In an effort to encourage nonprofits to connect with emerging leaders online through social media, Access Fort Wayne is working with the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center to create Nonprofit PSA’s. See samples here, in our Nonprofit PSA library.

Nonprofits wishing to create a PSA may begin with the online resources available in Nonprofit PSA Fundamentals.

Support

For Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award nominees and emerging leaders:

Over the next two years, we will host programs to give you the opportunity to meet young, enthusiastic, emerging leaders – and fellow nominees.

Events might include mixers, roundtables, panel discussions, etc.

The Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center has created a database of Rolfsen Stewardship Nominees who are interested in sharing their governance experiences with emerging leaders in subjects like, “Capital Campaigns,” “Evaluating Executive Directors,” “Fundraising,” etc.

Contact the Center for more information or to reach out to a nominee.
