Welcome to Get on Board! Get on Board is collaboration of Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) and the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center with grant support by Foellinger Foundation. Our goal is to train, connect, and support emerging leaders and the nonprofits they wish to serve.
For emerging leaders and new nonprofit board members: Board Bootcamp Emerging leaders and new nonprofit board members can sign up to attend Board Bootcamp, led by Mike Stone from Impact Strategies, Inc.
Board Bootcamp happens twice a year. Save the date for the next camp on October 18, 2013. Emerging leaders can sign up for the YLNI newsletter to be alerted. Nonprofits wishing to send their emerging board leaders will be notified by the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center.
For nonprofit boards: SpringBoard SpringBoard is a set of program information and tools in five subject areas to help your board recruit, retain, and engage a new generation of board members. Learn about the Life Cycle of a Nonprofit, Founder’s Syndrome, and Board Recruitment and Engagement practices.
Where nonprofits and emerging leaders meet:
Get Connected: Nonprofit Speed Dating events – Get Connected: Nonprofit Speed Dating happens throughout the year. Our next event will take place in late October or early November – and then be repeated again in March/April. Emerging leaders will be invited via the YLNI newsletter. Nonprofits will be invited by Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center email.
Nonprofit PSA’s – In an effort to encourage nonprofits to connect with emerging leaders online through social media, Access Fort Wayne is working with the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center to create Nonprofit PSA’s. See them here: Nonprofit PSA library. Learn how to make one here: Nonprofit PSA Fundamentals. “
Stay Connected - A periodic newsletter emailed to emerging leaders who have participated in bootcamp or attended Get Connected events, announces local board development opportunities including training workshops and opportunities to connect to nonprofits through committee work, task forces, etc.
Share nonprofit committee or task force opportunities via email by emailing email@example.com. We’ll share the message with participants.
For Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award nominees and emerging leaders: Past nominees who have volunteered their support to emerging board leaders can connect through Rolfsen Stewardship lunch programs. Interested nominees and emerging leaders who have participated in Get on Board will be invited by email. Emerging leaders who have not yet participated in a Get on Board program will be invited via the YLNI newsletter if space is available.
Additionally, a packet of Rolfsen Stewardship Nominee profiles is available to emerging leaders by request through the Paul Clarke Nonprofit Resource Center. The nominees profiled want to share their governance experiences with emerging leaders in subjects like, “Finding your voice in the boardroom,” “Evaluating Executive Directors,” etc.
