Location: Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration deadline: May 14, 2012.
Fundraisers know that people give differently at different points in their lives. Many also report that women focus on distinct issues, compared with men. In this session, we will hear from one of the leading practitioner researchers in this field, Melissa Brown, about the newest findings about generational preferences for learning about your organization and about giving to it. She will also explore decision-making criteria used by men and women and ways that fundraisers can use this knowledge to present their case to potential donors.

This workshop will include presentation, individual opportunities to apply concepts through exercises, and small-group discussions to share knowledge and learning. You will leave with facts and (more…)

Applications Now Available for Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare: Multi-System Integration Certificate Programs
The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University‘s Public Policy Institute has announced its 2012 Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare: Multi-System Integration Certificate Programs. The Certificate Programs are week-long periods of intensive study designed for organization and system leaders working with youth known to the juvenile justice and child welfare systems—youth commonly referred to as “crossover youth.” The programs are targeted at public and private sector leaders working in the juvenile justice, child welfare, judiciary, behavioral health, education and other systems that serve crossover youth.
The programs utilize a multi-systems and multi-disciplinary approach in focusing on policies, programs and practices that improve outcomes for this population. Upon completion of the week-long program, participants apply the knowledge they gain via a Capstone Project—a reform agenda they implement in their organization/community to make a positive impact on the lives of crossover youth. In order to enhance the possibility of implementing cross-systems change after returning from the program, applicants from the same jurisdiction are encouraged to apply as “mini-teams.”

YouTube Seeks to Improve Nonprofit Videos
February 23, 2012, 10:27 am
By Cody Switzer
From The Chronicles of Philanthropy:
YouTube in recent weeks has turned its focus to helping nonprofits create more powerful, effective videos, with a new “playbook” guide and a chance to participate in a one-day video boot camp in San Francisco.
The free 24-page guide, “YouTube for Good,” helps nonprofits devise attention-grabbing names and code their videos’ descriptions to make them more visible to search engines, tell better stories, and use video as part of broad campaign.
The San Francisco event is part of the company’s NextUp program, which in the past year has helped chefs and fitness trainers improve their videos. The meeting, in San Francisco on April 2, will offer one-on-one consulting to organizations selected through an application process.
Since YouTube started its Nonprofit Program in 2007, 16,000 organizations in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom have joined. Nonprofits and activism’ is the second fastest-growing category on the site, according to the company.
“So, what do you think? Ready to get your feet wet? We recently held a workshop on creating a PSA for your nonprofit! It’s painless, and can be LOTS of fun!
