The Governor’s Service Awards are the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives’ most prestigious award for volunteer service. The INOFBCI will be seeking nominations for recipients and you can help in several ways.
Whether you tweet about it, postthe award pageon friends’ Facebook walls, email the opportunity to friends and community organizations, or call others who serve their fellow Hoosiers, it is our goal to reach every corner of the state and to recognize the outstanding crop of Hoosiers who give back.
The Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) encourages Day of Service projects that (1) demonstrate community connections and use of local resources, (including partnerships with a minimum of one organization that serves persons with disabilities), (2) build capacity of local national service programs through regional networking and co-planning of activities, and (3) increase member and volunteer understanding and commitment to national service and volunteerism.
OFCBI Mission: Indiana enjoys a rich tradition of Hoosiers working together to help themselves and their communities. In that spirit, the mission of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is to: CONNECT organizations and communities to grants, services, and each other; PROMOTE volunteerism and service to improve the lives of Hoosiers; ENCOURAGE public and private resources to seed and sustain innovative and high quality community and faith-based initiatives; and, HIGHLIGHT the good works of individuals and their communities with best practices and innovative models.

2011 marks the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a moment that through tragedy brought together cultures, bridged differences and united citizens of goodwill around the world in a spirit of unity and commitment. In tribute to all of those who were lost and the tens of thousands who rose in service, 9/11 has been designated a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
In support of this historic anniversary, HandsOn Network has joined MyGood Deed to lead a coalition of national partners presenting this day of service.
For this 10th anniversary, more than 1 million Americans are expected to serve in their communities. You can join this historic effort and we are here to help. Here you will find resources to find a project, start a project, connect with others, or to sign up your organization, place of worship or employment to join the effort.
Will you encourage your volunteers to pledge their day of service? To share their pledge and commitment to your nonprofit on Facebook?
